What Happened An unauthorized party accessed data from one of Plex's databases. Accessed information includes emails, usernames, hashed passwords, and authentication data. Passwords were securely hashed, making them unreadable to attackers. No credit card data was stored or compromised. The impact is believed to be limited, but precautionary actions are necessary. What Plex Is Doing The breach method has been addressed and contained. Additional security reviews are in progress to strengthen systems. Efforts aim to prevent similar incidents in the future. Required Actions for Users Password Users: Reset your Plex password immediately at https://plex.tv/reset. Enable the checkbox to "Sign out connected devices after password change" to automatically log out all devices, including Plex Media Servers. SSO Users: Log out of all active sessions via https://plex.tv/security and click "Sign out of all devices," then sign back in. Additional Security Recommendations Plex will never ask for passwords or credit card information via email. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Plex account for added protection.
